So the day finally arrived, Skyler's 5th birthday, and what was supposed to be a surprise, turned out to be somewhat figured out. She stated the day before as we were leaving for Orlando that "we should go to Disney World!" Then again the next morning as we drove towards Disney, she stated again, "I want to go to Disney". When we finally told her that yes, we were taking her there, we got a big grin. That's it. The queen of drama and being silly just smiled. Oh well. She then spotted a sign and yelled out "ARIEL!!" That was better.
We went up to retrieve our tickets we had purchased, and Skyler told the ticket man that today was her birthday. He asked what her name was, and wrote it on a special birthday pin. Throughout the day, tons of employees would say, "Happy Birthday, Skyler!" One sang Happy Birthday while we were in line, another wished Princess Skyler a happy birthday followed by a deep bow. For all she knew, this truly was a magical place where everyone knew her!

So after getting tickets, waiting for the ferry boat, taking the ferry boat, and walking through the gates, there stood Cinderella's castle in all its glory. Skyler got wide eyed and her mouth dropped into a soft "Wow!" Ryun had bought her a camera for her birthday to take pictures, and she was quite the photographer.

After an HOUR of waiting (we won't get into that), Skyler got to meet her favorite princess. She made small talk, and Ariel wished her a happy birthday. Later that day, we watched the Dreams Come True parade, and Skyler saw Ariel and waved. She later told Ryun, "Ariel waved at me because she remembered me."

Skyler LOVED all the rides. She endured the scarier ones, like Splash Mountain, and Thunder Mountain, and said the Haunted House was "just a liiiittle scary." Ryun taught her the proper motion when going down a steep roller coaster.....

Our last couple rides before heading home. We bought Bryce some Cars diecast vehicles, and her a light-up magic wand, and she bought an Ariel playset with the money she got from Grandmom and Grandad. Skyler had a great time, and says that her favorite ride was the spinning teacups. The weather had been beautiful and breezy, NO sun at all. We were tired but knew Skyler had had the time of her life. We left as Ryun and I talked like kids about what our favorite things were, and Skyler dozed off in the back seat.

Skyler's Purse Party

Skyler had her birthday party with her friends on Saturday. We looked for some fun ideas and found a Purse party. All her friends brought their favorite purses. When everyone arrived the girls made little purses out of felt, then we all sat down to show off the purses. Then we ate some lunch, and the girls played a little bit. After that, I sat down to read My Big Green Pocketbook, a book about a little girl that runs errands with her mom and collects things in her purse. I had the girls put in the items as the story went along. Then it was time for presents. Skyler got lots of My Little Pony Ponyville sets, a Littlest Pet Shop horse set, a dog that comes in a little carry case, a craft/sticker set, strawberry shortcake fashion plates, a baby My little pony that talks and takes a bottle, and a finger puppet farm. We then ate the purse cake I made, and the girls went home with little favors in their purses they made. We plan for her real birthday, Friday, October 26 to take her to Disney World, which she has never been. She does not know and we aren't going to tell her until that morning. So stay tuned for that blog next week....
